CSOs and UNICEF Ghana collaborate to enhance social accountability in implementing social protection programs. Through this partnership, Dels Foundation, which is a CSO representative in the Oboadaka and Otopa Yaw communities in Akuapim South in the Eastern region of Ghana, sensitized beneficiaries on their rights through community engagement activities. Dels Foundation collaborated with district representatives from social welfare and Social protection program leads such as school capitation grants, school feeding (represented by the Ghana Education Service), LEAP, labor-intensive works, and the National Health Insurance scheme, etc.

The initiative included two community forums in both communities, three radio discussions at FAWE FM with social protection representatives and beneficiaries, and two community information center announcements facilitated by the Akuapim South assembly member and the NCCE. Participants were educated on viewing social protection as a fundamental right, learning how to voice grievances, and understanding the enrollment procedures for social protection programs in Ghana.

The program was successful in positively impacting both communities, demonstrating the importance of such collaborations in promoting social accountability and empowering communities to access essential social protection services.
